Inside a LaCie PocketDrive...(light version)

As usual, I cannot be responsible for any damage to your machines when you will experiment the following tutorial.

Here, no problem: just to undertsand how it is built :-)

1)

I love this rubber look, don't you ? :-)

2)

Opening it from its rearside offers an easier way to remove the rubber coat: see the little cuttings out pointed by the yellow arrows

In the foreground of the image above, a little specialized tool to remove electronic chips from a board: usefull when you have to remove coats wrapping a box!

3)

The rubber coat is partially removed: we start working from the connectors side (yellow arrow)

Blue arrows shows the two stickers which maintain the rubber coat in place.

4)

Yellow arrows from left to right:

1) power connector (optional)
2) USB port
3) 1st Firewire port
4) 2nd Firewire port

Blue arrows from left to right

1) screw which clamps the hard disk onto the plate
2) the hard disk itself

5)

Yellow arrows point to hexagonal screws with a little breast on their middle (blue arrows). The latter will maintain both the plate and the hard disk into small U-shaped steel holes.

6)

Yellow arrow shows the led, blue one shows the IDE connector of the hard disk.

Surprisingly, no jumper on the pins (blue arrow) but detailled explanations about them on the hard disk cover  :-)

7)

All parts dissambled: nothing special .

8)

Of course, all the above instructions in reverse order to rebuilt the PocketDrive!
